Tha RING

Hey folks, the past couple of weeks, were busy again, as usual, friday official practice will start and we are all so looking forward to it, you can't imagine...2 exams, 2 quizzes, and we got the ring... but now let me tell you how we got it, because nobody was prepared for it... haha
We were supposed to have a pool workout at the rec, right next to my door, but we still had to meet up at the gym...So we gathered all up there and coach sent us on an adventure, not to a pool workout...so we just thought it was going to be teambonding and we would have to teach the freshmen the fight song... So here we are 14 players ready for the adventure on a hot thursday afternoon...Coaches let us out on western campus close to the art museum and we hald to run to the child development center, because our coaches let us out at 3:10 and we were supposed to be there at 3:15...so a little jog over the bridge on western campus, where we had to do circle time with the 3 year old kids ;) So they taught us their little song.... (I had a little turtle, his name was tiny tim, I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim, he drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap, he woke up in the mornin a buble in his troat... buble buble........POP :D)
Then we got out next hint and the destination was the reflection pool behind shriver...we had to make up our goals and throw a penny into the water and make a wish alltogehter...then we had to sing the song to Colleen, and she gave us the next hint...next destination, the hub or seal behind upham...it has the symbols of the past present and future, so everybody had to say something about their past present and future and we got the next destination ;) It was withrow, where we talked about how women had evolved in sports and we had to tell, which women most influenced us in our lives... We still had no clue, the only thing we knew, was that we were supposed to walk into millett at 4:30 and take the court all locked up and sing the fight song....so then all of a sudden, the highlight video from the mac champs pops up with music and everything...once it is done it is kind of akward because there is a spotlight on the hoop with a present..but we were not sure if it was for us or what it was...and it did not say anything about it...so we decided not to get it....a couple of minutes later, the coaches told us to get it and there was a marked spot where we were supposed to open it...so all of a sudden, balloons fall down, and our rings and in this huge present...amazing and a memory for lifetime ;)
so basically basketball is going well...most of the conditionning is over ;) and only 2 more practice days before official practice starts and we get to be in season ;) school is stressfu as usual, but I'm trying to not let it bother me too much...only this and the next semester and I get my bachelor :D hopefully all of you people are doin well ;) I miss you lots and lots send you big hugs ;)

No Power, No Class

So here we go...there was an exciting happening at Miami University last night... As Ike hit us, there are currently still people without Power, fortunately Miami U has been on Power since Monday due to generators, and by now is running on power by Duke again... But yesterday night, there were still people without power and Miami University announced that there was going to be class on tuesday... see a couple of pictures, where students for once stick together... but on the other hand you have got to consider that we all pay for our education... (but then there were people without Power for more than 36 hours... ) And I still know people that as of now still have no Power... Just imagine living without a hot shower, without a stove (so no hot food) pretty much nothing...people charge their cell phones in university buildings, but apparently by tomorrow, 85 % of Ohio should be back on Power...
You can't believe how many police cars, and officers where at the presidents house... there were all these students going nuts...if you want to get a feeling for it...I posted some pictures...and you will have to go to youtube and google riot at Miami Ohio ;) you will find some decent videos, just to show what was going on... I left when it started to be too much and people started to get violent... I saw 4-6 people get arrested...(for what? not having class? hihi just skip ^^)
So enjoy...and just so you know...Oxford Police department and MU PD was not enough to take care of the students... there where sheriffs from butler county and police from hamilton comming in...I guess we were afraid...

Ike Came and gave us a visit

Here we are again... Kind of fast this time, I have to agree... ;) But apparently Ike came and visited Ohio, which caused a power outage in Southwest Ohio, from Cincinnati up to Cleveland... Because of such high winds, as you can see on the pictures, there are threes that came down everywhere, and hanging in the cables...supposed to give us power...So right now Miami is running on generators which means that technically Oxford still has no Power...Everybody living off campus has no Power and is really unable to do a lot of things as I found out yesterday, when I had for approximately 8 hours no Power... So I just wanted to keep you updated and tell everybody that nothing happend, and that we are all fine... At Miami about 105 trees fell or are seriously damaged...We had no class today, but they will resume tomorrow... (I only have one class so it won't do a whole lot to me...but today I should have had 5 classes so lucky me...) All of these pictures were taken sunday night...we had to wait until the winds calmed down a little until we went for a walk, because there was nothing else today than play jungle speed or cards...and after a couple of hours that is really boring and...at night when it starts to get dark outside you can't see anything...
So enjoy my view of Ike...which seriously is not as bad as the one in texas, but then I was never out of Power that long...so just imagine what you can't do when there's no power... hehe
greetings to everybody! Take good care of yourselves ;)
Hugs and Greetings
Lucky ;)

Then Just a week ago...well two we played Qualification round for the B-EM but lost all of our four games...Other than that, I hung out a lot in Speyer, managed to visit tammy in munich once, and went for a short week to austria with ruben, lisa and marie...where seriously ;) haha we didn't do a lot...except for sleep and chill...and do marie's history stuff haha...I saw pretty much everybody I wanted too ;) Some people less than I had planed on but I guess, with the fact that the day only has 24 hours, you can only get a certain number of things done everyday...After our MAC-Champs title from last season which is not on here yet...but I'll post some pictures haha I am back at Miami, workin for basketball and school, so that my graduation is all done in may! OMG I forgot about the BLOG

Dear PPle, my dad asked me last time about the Blog, and the one thing that came up to my mind was... OMG I forgot about that but at the same time, I was so busy with school and basketball, that there was not a whole lot of time left for blogging... Because we need some time for social life... Hehe
So let me give you an update, how everything is going and what we did... The pictures show some stuff, but not everything :)
After October there were the finals, so a lot of studying well no, not as much as in Germany, but some stress because of projects homeworks and all that kind of stuff... I was glad when everything was over, and we could finally call for winter break...
On thing about winter break... We are basketball players... they do not have a real winter break... We had 6 days off over christmas and that's it! (well we practiced hard, and that's why we are here, to play Games and go on winning streaks ;) )
During this time, I had two visits, one from Marie and one from my dear family. And what did my brother say, once he was here, you know I just came because of YOU ;) THANK YOU!! I saw them in San antonio, where we were for a tournament after Christmas... (unfortunatly we didn't bring a win home, and for those of you who talked to me afterwards, know what happened that we didn't bring home the first one...) After that we played Temple at home, and the Fam was around and could see how everything is ;) Not just how amazing the gym is, they saw the weights room, and all the rest that belongs to the atlethic departement... you know everything is different from home...
So yes, we won against Temple, which was a big win, and gave us some more confidence, until the season finally started... ;) Unfortunatly we lost our MAC opener to Buffalo, but went on winning some more games, and a big one against Bowling Green, who was MAC champs the last three years and went on into the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament... SO yes a big one... Right now we are in first standing tied with BG (Bowling Green) and the battle for the first place will be tomorrow... 2 pm So let's kick BG ;) And we will be all alone up top... (And yes wednesday we took our revenge against Buffalo...we won by 29...is that enough? =) )
Second Semester started a long time ago... well let's see I would guess 1 month and a half, and I can tell you guys, this semester is not fun... 19 credit hours takes a lot of my time... But you know I love the gym, so yeah social life is kind of not present, and it still works... The only thing that is really going on my nerves are these homeworks, projects or assignments that I have to do for every single class period... These professors this semester are really stressful... Two classes have quizzes every friday (ARG) One has homework turn in every friday, another one has an article due every tuesday and an assignment due thursday... Then my english class... OMG... this is crazy no not crazy... busy work... that's probably the best I can say... O yes I am taking a calculus class... a little different...and I still can't think math in english... I am still thinkin french...even though I took it for 2 years in german... haha
Well yes busy work... 6 classes and no week passes where I have nothing that is graded... The class I hate the most this semester is my COM class... (Comunication / Public Speaking) A must for business majors... and OMG... these speaches are horrible... too much work... NO FUN...
Well yes... hope you are all doing well, and I am really looking forward to see you guys in the summer ;) LESS THAN 3 MONTHS ;)
Enjoy, Greets and Hugs

NCAA Basketball

Dear Boys and Girls
Finally Basketball season started and preseason is now over for about 2 weeks...
O yes we are all very excited, because this is going to be a big year... I finally made it and am realizing one of my dreams...who has ever thought I could make it? Be honest, two years ago, no one saw me here...not as a walk on, not being able to practice, and I am honest too! I never thought this was real...but all has come true...Hard working last season, and I still have a lot of work to do, but they are all really helpful and I know that this is a wonderful experience...so have fun this whole year! It's gonna be a lot of fun...
Team practice started two weeks ago, and as most of you know already...there's a lot of work to do, be 15 mins early for stretching, be another 15 mins early for shooting.. cause you're supposed to make your shots when practice begins... (this is always true, if you have class and it is impossible most of the players stay after practice to put some extra shooting in)
Freetime? No not a lot... exams, school, practice, weights, film, go over sth with a coach, but the time you got, you use to eat sleep and talk to your friends and mates in your hall!
Today was our first scrimmage against Butler and guess what? ;) (I played more than in my last national team games haha...well yes that was not hard, but here I was told that usually walk-ons don't play so I was prepared for that and was lucky and happy to see the court for 2-3 mins) Well yes we played 5 quarters... but I was supposed to get in in the fourth quarter but that was the only one my team lost, so I saw the court in the fifth quarter but still better than nothing and I mean I joined practice late this year, so 2morrow I got the gym all for myself as we have off but someone's going to practice! ;)
A lot of work, but lots of fun too, and it helps you to stay focussed and organized ;)
Here see some pictures of my new locker room... ;) I bet you are all jealous.. O yes I would be jealous too...
My name and number (what's your name what's your number?) on my locker....
New shoes... two pairs of basketball shoes... (away and home games) and a new pair of running shoes... (By the way we are adidas sponsored for the one who didn't notice yet... ;))

The locker room has a lot of nice features... started with our we believe over our door ;) (and yes we have to believe because just if you believe you can achieve...)

Everyone has his own little spot as seen on this pic, which is also very nice...so no battling about whose place is where... and whose clothes are lying around...Now ;) the biggest feature... this huge tv screen... ehm yes at first I thought we were going to watch film (scouting) on that big screen, but till now, we only watched tv, or listened to music... and the film was watched in one of the coaches offices...as everyone has a TV...( I finally found out as they are now moving in into their new (old) offices)

Our nice chairs... to watch TV... and our little chill area ;) (when I showed some of my friends from here these pictures they were also amazed...so I believe no one really knows what the student athletes advantages are... except from the fact that they do our sports laundry)
Here our faboulous Redhawk... He's in the carpet and I just love him! GO REDHAWKS!!!
So well yes hopefully I could show you a little bit what my new life looks...hopefully you'll have time to stop by sometime and I can show you some more stuff... well yes I have to be crazy to talk about this about basketball...but you know that I've always been crazy about it and someday it is all over, so I have to profit as long as it is still there! Hope you are all doing well! I miss you and hug you!

Hoop Phi 4 Life

Dear Friends
I am sorry that I haven't updated the blog for nearly a month now...it seems that I get lazy, even if I don't want to. But well yes, it might not only be me, it might be the practice, and the classes I had a lot of exams coming up, but now they are all done, and surely as always papers due... my next one is due on tuesday and I get my Midterm handed out on Monday, and that one is due on wednesday! But yes... Let me explain the title for you... As I've been practicing now nearly for a month with the team, I can say that I am a proud member of the hoop phi hoop sorority :D (haha) And well yes we usually have a lot of fun, except when we need to do court sprints or something similar, but even those we survived, because as I am sitting here today, we survived preaseason ;)
Let me introduce some of my team members... the first pic is one where we went on a haunted trail in middletown, from left to right, chanell, A2daJ, (Me aka LUX), Hawk, Michelle (ozzi), and last but not least Brown.
The haunted trail was a lot of fun and we got scared, brown was the runner, I got scared out of my mind, and michelle nearly pead her pants, we had a good time ;)
On this picture here you can see, michelle, chanell, myself, scottie (Hawk's friend) and Hawk.
Next Picture is our whole crew again, well yes the picture might not be that great but that was the group, that survived the middletown haunted trail! AH YEAH

The following to pictures, took place at Steph's (Fordi) place, she had us all over for dinner, it was just great! THX Kris and Steph that you cooked all day long for us, we just enjoyed it. We were all tired as you can see ;)
While Kris and Steph were cooking, they us carve the pumpkins and made a contest out of it...my first pumpkin carving contest ever...well we did not win...true but someone srewed up our top so we couldn't win, and even though we did not win, courtney, hawk and I had a lot of fun, getting our thing done ;)

Some more pictures of the team, the first one was at my first football game ever and it was as one can see, white out, all dressed in white and had lots of fun, unfortunatly I got sunburned, but that is all forgotten right now again ;)
From left to right: Bri, Laura, courtney, Michelle, AJ, Brown and Lux...
The last picture is also from the day of the football game, when we went to go out eating, this is myself (haha) with steph and Brown.
